The calibre 15 was developed as a cheaper movement than the ordinary calibre 12 and by combining it with simpler dials Heuer could sell cheaper automatic chronographs. In the 1974 German pricelist the 15630 was DM 575,-, whereas the 11630 was DM 620,-, so the saving was only 7.5 %.
Calibre 15 is a 30 minute chronograph with a small running second hand and the calibre 12 is a 12 hour chronograph. The subdials on the cheaper watch is painted on the main dial and not recessed and ridged as on the normal dial.
